Program on Litigating Civil Rights Cases

The FBA is sponsoring a brown bag lunch program on Litigating Civil Rights Cases on September 18, 2019. The event will begin at 12pm and is expected to last till 1:15pm. We will have a panel consisting of Daniel E. Manville, Clinical Professor Law Director for the Civil Rights Clinic at Michigan State University College of Law, Attorney Michael Bogren, Chairman, Board of Directors at Plunkett Cooney, P.C., and Kristin Vanden Berg, Pro Se Staff Attorney for the U.S. District Court of Western Michigan. The panel will discuss litigating prisoner civil rights cases under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. The panel will discuss the basics of § 1983 litigation, including the primary causes of action pursued by prisoners and the hurdles faced in litigating these cases against the MDOC.
