Effective Advocacy at Mediation/Settlement Conferences

June 9, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Please join us on June 9, 2021, from noon to 1:30 p.m. for a panel discussion on effective advocacy in mediation and settlement conferences. We will have a panel of experienced mediators and magistrate judges who will discuss how attorneys can more effectively represent their clients in voluntary facilitative mediation and settlement conferences. This discussion will provide insights from experienced mediators, and it will be an opportunity for practitioners to learn what approaches work – and which ones don’t.

The panelists include the following: Magistrate Judge Sally Berens, retired Magistrate Judge Mona Majzoub, Bill Jack, Paula Manis, and Gene Esshaki. Each panelist will provide useful insights from their respective experiences, which will be followed by a question and answer period and discussion among all attendees. Magistrate Judge Phillip Green will serve as the moderator.

Panelists will be in person in the Jury Assembly Room in the Gerald R. Ford Federal Building and Courthouse in Grand Rapids, and FBA members are welcome to attend in person. FBA members who prefer to join virtually, as well as nonmembers, may attend via Zoom.
